UAFA brought “Smile” Charity Project to Azerbaijan

The Embassies of the Republic of Poland and the Federal Republic of Germany jointly with United Aid for Azerbaijan (UAFA) hold the opening of the “Smile” Charity Exhibition in Kapellhaus.

All guests had an opportunity to enjoy viewing photographs and autographs of renowned personalities from Azerbaijan, Germany, Poland and around the world. Among them, Bronisław Komorowski (president of Poland), Lech Wałęsa, Günter Grass, Steffi Graf, Alim and Fargana     Qasimovas,    Eldar and   Nigar (Eurovision 2011 winners) ,  
Jim Carrey,    Liza Minelli,   Diego Maradonna,   Tony   Hawk and Pedro Almodovar.

In addition, our guests could participate in an exceptional charity lottery. The lottery prizes included: weekend for four in Ivanovka Guest House and Chalets, Chinar voucher for a four-course meal and a bottle of wine, a three-course meal voucher including wine and a night stay in Jumeirah Bilgah Beach Hotel, products from Baku Roasting Company, works of art donated by local artists and many more.

Our special guests were Mr. Marek Wysoczyński from the Culture Promotion Office in Gdańsk, Poland, author of the ‘Smile Project” and curator of the exhibition. Mr. Wysoczyński  led a series of workshops for children with disabilities in UAFA’s Community-Based Rehabilitation Centres and child-care institutions around Baku.

The purpose of this unique initiative is to raise awareness of issues relating to the social integration of disabled children.
